Oxford

Last weekend we visited the famous city of Oxford, obviously named after Oxford University. Just for a little overview, Oxford is not one single school, there is no Oxford University building. The entire university is made up of 37 different colleges which all specialize in something different. For example, one may specialize in Math, one in Science, etc. These 37 different colleges make up the town of Oxford and the actual city was build around the university. We left around 10:00 AM on Saturday after an eventful night at O’Neill’s pub in Leicester Square. Once again we had a very entertaining, but annoying tour guide, who literally talked the entire way from King's Cross to Oxford which is about an hour and half drive. Every car accident we passed, every building we passed, pretty much anything we drove past, she mentioned. Once we arrived in Oxford we took a quick tour. We saw Christ Church where several scenes from Harry Potter were filmed, the Oxford cricket field and most of the colleges which dated back to the 1500's! It was abso-bloody-lutley incredible (my boss said this last week, hilarious). After doing everything touristy, buying memorabilia and shopping we ate lunch at the cutest little cafe and then headed home. It was my favorite trip so far.

Saturday night we went to Tim's friend's PJ who is living in London this summer as well. PJ is doing a similar program but through Creighton University instead of KU. He is living in Earl's Court and in a fabulous flat. We hung out with his friends and room mates for a while, but then headed back to old Nido to hit the sack.

Sunday we planned on getting up early and heading over to Tower of London, but we ended up sleeping way too late and changed our plans to St. Paul's Cathedral instead. Well that was stupid because obviously since it was Sunday it was closed for tours. There were signs everywhere inside saying no pictures, but I decided to take one anyway, and almost got us kicked out. We then went to the famous Harrods department store. We felt way out of our league to say the least. It was definitely worth the experience.

I have a full week of work and then we are off to Scotland, so I'm sure there will be lots of stories to come!

Stay tuned!
